Questions and Answers
Will SRE (Sex and Relationships Education) be statutory with the new curriculum?
That is currently being consulted on by Welsh Government. We want to assure parents that the content of SRE lessons at St Paul’s is appropriate to the age of the child. If you have any questions regarding the SRE curriculum please speak to your child’s teacher who will be happy to talk this through with you.
Will amount of homework change?
Homework is set aside from the curriculum. Any changes to homework will be consulted on with you as parents of the children at a stage where it is clear that the current system is being asked to change. Any questions regarding how we decided on current levels of homework please speak to Mr C Gascoigne.
Will GCSE subjects change?
That’s easy to answer in a short way YES. How that will change is currently being investigated by the key stakeholders concerned.
What are the next steps for St Paul’s?
To engage with you as parents and the wider community, as well as with pupils and teachers to plan a way forward. Mr Wilson will be leading this for the school but it is not his project alone. We all have a responsibility to share in the future for the curriculum here at St Paul’s.
Will National Tests Continue?
Yes. They are changing in nature to become more diagnostic and useful to teachers but children will still set assessments rather than tests.
